Pilot Information System

Publishing Directives and Information

The PostType ‘DirectInfo’ is used to store the Directives and Information for the Pilot Information System, handling as in ‘Posts’ (‘Beiträge’). Unread DirectInfos are displayed in a popup on login, until the user confirms having read and understood the information.

Klick on the ‚Direct Info‘-Menu in Backend to show the overview of all published DirectInfos.

Overview

The overview lists all DirectInfo entries, together with the display settings, the number of users to which the entry applies and the number of users who have confirmed reading and understanding the Directive or Info.

Adding new DirectInfos

Click on ‚Add new‘ to create a new DirectInfo entry.

Enter the content of the DirectInfo in the content section.

If you are comfortable with HTML, you can format your content in the HTML-Editor.

You have the choice of entering solely an internet link (‘https://…’) or creating readable content including links and images. Copy/paste is supported.

  • If the content is a link ONLY, the user will be redirected directly to the link address when clicking on the DirectInfo-link in the list. (Please enable popups on mobile devices! If popups are disabled, the user can still view the information by clicking ‚Show this directive again in a new window‘ )
  • If you enter text and/or links and/or images, the post is displayed to the user.

The entries in the metadata (on the right) are used to categorize the post as Directive or Information and to limit displaying of the DirectInfo to certain pilots.

Choose Directive or Information as DirectInfo type.

If the DirectInfo applies only to pilots of certain aircraft types, activate these in the list. The DirectInfo will be shown only to pilots who have aircraft of these types assigned to them.

To show this DirectInfo only to pilots of certain pilot levels, activate these in the list.

If the DirectInfo applies only to employees (users/pilots with at least ‚Mitarbeiter‘-role) activate the checkbox ‚Employees only‘: this DirectInfo will not be shown to users with role ‚Pilot/FI‘.

In the lower section of the details form, a List of pilots to which this DirectInfo applies is displayed, together with the date/time when the email notification was sent, the date/time ‚Read and understood‘ was confirmed by the pilot and the timespan between the confirmation and when the DirectInfo was first opened by the pilot.

As soon as you click on ‚Publish‘ (‚Veröffentlichen‘) in the publish options section, pilots will be reminded of the unread DirectInfo on logging in, and the DirectInfo is listed in the ‚Home‘-menu. You may wish to review the DirectInfo from there before sending email notifications.

Email notification

After publishing the DirectInfo, the button ‚Send email notifications‚ is activated. Clicking on this button sends an email to all pilots in the ‚Applies to‘ section who have not deactivated ‚Notify me by email of new directives/information‘ in ‚My Account‘. The date/time is saved and displayed in the ‚Mail sent‘ column of the ‚Applies to‚ section.

Editing DirectInfos

Hovering over the title of a DirectInfo in the overview with the mouse pointer shows the edit-options. Click on ‚Edit‘ (‚Bearbeiten‘) to open the DirectInfo for editing.

After making your changes to content or metadata, click on the ‚Reset Mail sent and Read confirmed‘ to mark the DirectInfo as ‚unread‘ by all pilots. After reset, click on ‚Send email notifications‘ to repeat the email notification.

Unpublishing DirectInfos

To remove an entry from the list of current DirectInfos:

  • Click on ‚Trash‘ (‚Papierkorb‘) in the edit-options to remove the DirectInfo from the overview of current DirectInfos (the post is not deleted and can still be retrieved from ‚Trash‘), or…
  • Edit the DirectInfo and change the status in the publish options from ‚Published‘ (‚Veröffentlicht‘) to ‚Draft‘ (‚Entwurf‘) or ‚Pending‘ (‚Ausstehende Überprüfung‘). The DirectInfo will still be listed in the overview of current DirectInfos.

N.B.: If you log in as editor, you will always be shown all published DirectInfos in the login popup (until you confirm reading) and on the ‚Home‘ page.
