As a rule, when you log in to the FlightLog page, a new FlightLog is opened, and the FlightAssistant is started automatically.
If you exit FlightAssistant, you will be shown the current FlightLog page, with your saved changes. Return to the FlightAssistant with the FlightAssistant button to complete your FlightLog step by step.
Step 1 – Aircraft Status
In Step 1 you are shown the current status of the aircraft and if the aircraft is ready to fly in respect to inspections and repairs. The data of the last flight with this aircraft is shown, together with board documents and their expiry. The number of days/hours flight time until expiry is also shown.
If any of these deadlines have expired, the aircraft is marked as ‚NOT ready to fly!‚ and you can not continue with the assistant until a new deadline is set.
If the deadline concerns LCS Tasks and you have been assigned to the aircraft as Limited Certifying Staff, you can perform the necessary checks in the list and create a Release to Service (RS).
If the deadline concerns Part-145 Tasks (Next Hourly, Next Calendar), Discrepancies (defects/damages/anomalies) or Board Documents, the RS must be issued by a Technician with B1 status. If you do not have this status, a B1 Technician must log in (either on your computer or from another location) and create the RS, setting new deadlines and/or marking discrepancies as rectified, before you can continue.
If this is done on another computer while you have FlightAssistant Step 1 on your screen, click on the ‚1 – Status‚ icon in the progress-bar to refresh the assistant and show the new status.
When the status shows ‚Ready to fly‚ you can proceed to the next step by clicking the Check-In button in the bottom right corner or by clicking on the ‚2 – Check-In‚ icon in the progress-bar.
Step 2 – Check-In
In step two you can choose from the bookings you have made for the day in FlightPlan and carry the details from the booking over to your FlightLog.
When you check in, your booking will be marked as ‚Boarded‘ in FlightPlan as soon as you sign ‚PIC Sign On‘ (Step 3 – Before Flight), as ‚Landed‘ as soon as you sign ‚PIC Sign Off‘ (Step 6 – Completion). Booking data, excepting passenger lists, can not be edited in FlightPlan after a booking has been checked in.
If you have no bookings for the day or your intended flight does not correspond with one of the listed bookings, click on ‚Continue without Check-In‘.
Step 3 – Before Flight
In step three you must
- confirm that you have carried out all the listed pre-flight and daily checks
- confirm that you have found no damages/defects…
OR that you have reported all defects/damages found. - check fluids level (Deice fluid / Oxygen) if shown and enter correct values if necessary
- enter your fuel upload (0 if none)
- choose a pilot from the list (if not already set)
- choose a flight type (if not already set by Check-In)
- for VS (Instruction) flights: choose an instruction type and an instructor
- Enter the number of passengers…
OR (if you used Check-In) edit the passenger list from your booking
When you have completed the Before Flight step, you can proceed with your flight.
Click on the ‚Sign‘-icon next to ‚PIC Sign On‘ to show the signature pad. When you save your signature, you are automatically redirected forward to step 4 – Flight.
Step 4 – Flight
In step 4 you record the actual flight(s). You can record more than one flight (legs) per FlightLog. You must complete all entries for a leg before you can continue to step 5 or click on ‚New Leg‚ to start a new flight. See Flights for more details.
Step 5 – After Flight
In step 5 you are presented an overview of your flights. If you must make corrections, use the ‚Back‘-button or click on the ‚4 – Flight‚-icon in the progress bar to return to step 4.
In step 5 you must record checks performed during and after flight, and certify that you found no defects / damages on post flight inspection.
Note that, if the checkbox is green, the task is not yet due – the remaining interval is shown – but you can perform it any time, which prolongs the deadline until next performance.
Enter the fluid levels (Deice fluid / Oxygen) if the inputs are shown.
When you have confirmed that all post-flight inspections have been carried out and all defects/damages have been reported, continue to step 6 with the ‚Next‘-button.
Step 6 – Completion
In step 6 you have the opportunity to add or edit ‚Remarks / Flight Reporting Details‚.
For flights with flight type ‚VS‘ (instruction) or ‚VP‘ (Private) the Customer is shown (if not, please choose the customer from the list or enter customer name / address), and a customer signature is required. The standard payment method is ‚Invoice‘.
For flights with flight type ‚VC‘ (commercial) the Customer set in the FlightPlan booking is shown (see Step 2 – Check-In). If not, you must enter or choose a customer. A customer signature is not required.
In the section ‚FlightLog Copy (pdf)‚, the email recipients for the FlightLog PDF Copy are listed. You can add further recipients in the input provided (separate multiple entries with comma (,) ).
Every change in a FlightLog after PIC Sign Off generates a new version of the FlightLog Copy, but only the first version is sent automatically per email. To view later edited versions of your FlightLog go to FlightList and download the current version from there.
Your signature in ‚PIC Sign Off‚ completes the FlightLog.
After your FlightLog has been completed and saved to the database, click on ‚New FlightLog‚ to start a new flight or on ‚Finish and Logout‚ to log out and prepare FlightLog for the next user log in.
